Snow Day
The snow, while gorgeous, made it a little difficult to leave my parent's mountain home.
I learned to use a chainsaw as there were 8 small trees down on the driveway.
I thought the chainsaw was super fun. Dad thought sending me out with a chainsaw was less fun.
The dog watched from the 6 wheeler.
Mom and I found a hidey-hole in a big tree. It was a little snow palace inside.
I finally made it to the main road, which was totally clear, and stopped in Richmond before flying home. I got to see these silly people who eat ice cream when it's super cold outside.

Trip to VA
I went to Virginia to visit my parents recently.
It rained a lot.
And then it snowed.
We all snuggled in.
You'll have to trust me that Mom & Dad were snuggled in too.
And finally, on my last day, there was sunshine.

Diving With Lisa
Here's two of the five sharks we had swimming around us for a while.
I wish they'd pose better for pictures.

Lisa's First Trip To The Stripper Pole
It's an I-beam from the old pier that slipped off a barge and impaled the reef below. It rises from 105ft up to 70ft.

Found That Confounded Bridge
I've heard stories since I've been here about the Suffolk Maid and her hard times on St Croix. She eventually ended up scuttled in Butler Bay and is one of the shallow wreck sites for divers.
Part of the story involves her being beached by a hurricane and having the bridge cut off of the decks so the engines could be pulled out to lighten her up to pull the Suffolk Maid off of the shore.
I've heard that the cut-off bridge section was also dumped in Butler Bay, but out deeper than the other wrecks there. Some friends of mine went and found a piece without me, but I finally got a chance to see for myself today.
While doing our decompression stops Christi and I drifted over the Suffolk Maid's hull.
Now, where's the rest of it?

While I was watching dolphins from the boat Saturday afternoon,

and won third place.

Dolphin Day
I got to free dive with dolphins!
I cleaned up some video that another diver shot-
Then I was captain of the boat for the afternoon and found the dolphins again. This time I had to watch from above,
which wasn't so bad either.
Bonus footage!

Whale Shark
Here's a freeze from an iPhone video the captain shot as it passed the boat.
Later it came by me and the divers at 60 ft, turned around, and swam over my head so close that I reached up and scratched its belly.
A dream come true!

Christmas Parade '13
Time for sequins and feathers
and crazy costumes.
Our Flaming Gypsy friends got in on the act this year
Trucks full of speakers blasted live music
but this is, by far, the best music.
It lasted from about 10:30am 'til nearly 9:30pm!
Taking it all in
until we danced our way down the street and out of town behind the last float.

Rum Factory
After dropping two good soldiers off at the airport we stopped at the Cruzan rum factory
where tanks like this
get filled with stuff like this
which ends up in barrels like this
which then gets served (in abundance) to people like this.
