We found the giant Baobab!
Its growing in an otherwise empty lot across from a baseball diamond in an area known as Grove Place. The seeds were carried from Africa by slaves making the Middle Passage hundreds of years ago.
It's sometimes called the dead rat tree because of the look of the seeds they drop.
In the middle of the three massive trunks is a hole.
According to what I've read, the trunks are hollow and people have not only taken shelter from hurricanes inside the tree, they have also been born inside, and been temporarily transported back to Africa during long forgotten tribal rites.

and took pictures.
Now, what to do with those seeds...
