Seaplane!

We hopped on the Seaplane for me to dip out on the dive boat
and take advantage of Lisa's long weekend
so we could enjoy seeing St Croix on the horizon for a change
from St John.

Goat Hill

On top of Sugarloaf Hill there's a peak known as Goat Hill.
It seemed like a worthwhile afternoon objective.
We drove halfway up
'til the road got to be a bit much for our trusty little Subaru.
So we walked.
 We got there
 and enjoyed the view
from the pointy end of the island.
The ride down was pretty nice, too.
And we saw some butterflies.

After Years Of Searching

I finally found some (1/4in) bumblebee shrimps!
and didn't have my camera.

Cashew Tree

Who knew? Cashews grow here and look crazy.
The nut dangling from the bottom of the "apple" is potentially poisonous until it's roasted, but the apple is sweet and too fragile for transport. They're ripe when the fruit turns sort of yellow-orange.
It tastes kind of like a hog plum.

Needle In The Hay

When we find chaney it's hard not to wonder how the little shards fit in to the whole picture, let alone the history of the plate or bowl itself.
While looking around on the interwebs, I learned of an old 18th century china pattern called Willow ware. Evidently we've found a few pieces of it.

and now we get to see the whole picture.
