Goldbrick Sunset

Felt like I was channeling P in the previous post. Thought I'd big up the man that got me on the internet.

I miss you Pmonk!

Day Off

Ran down the hill to town

to fetch a pail of water

and other errands.

Remembering to smell the flowers.

So many spots to check out

so few meals in a day.

Always expecting the unexpected.

My Day

Today I:
1. Survived a dog attack without injury.
2. Learned not to try to walk by the dogs down the hill from us.

3. Went to two farmer's markets and got papaya, carambola, and mamay fruit as well as local eggs and honey.
4. Got fussed at for trying to take a picture of the farmer's market "without permission"
5. Wondered whose permission I would have asked, if I had.

6. Knit in the sunshine.
7. Became a tiny shade less pale.

All Jeff did was go diving.
:)

Tonight, we go watch for nesting leatherback turtles!
Unfortunately, there are no camera's allowed.

Our Ship Came In

Love was in the air this morning when Lisa dropped me off at the marina.

Apparently her attention was not appreciated.

But the romance put her in the mood to take some well deserved time reading at the beach.

I'm not allowed to say what she was reading, but the author's name rhymes with Cora Boberts.

Then, after picking me up from work early, we went to the cargo depot to pick up our stuff!
All 1476 lbs were accounted for, undamaged, and a week early!

We spent most of the evening unpacking, but quit early to go out for diner to celebrate our first week on-island!

P.S.- Before i forget, I would like to introduce St Croix's newest avocado tree- we shall name it Richmond.

Dinoflagellation

Lisa has been trying to sort out some issues with the local DMV...

and finding most of the instructions more confusing than helpful.

But after picking me up from work we headed to the beach...

so I could show her the one solitary channel marker that marks the winding cut through the barrier reef through which I must thread the needle daily.

Later we tagged along on a moonlight kayak trip. We paddled out into the mangroves to watch the sun set before ducking into a small cove filled with little aquatic critters that glow when agitated.

The paddles moving through the water left swirling glowing patches in the water- as did Lisa's hands when she couldn't resist playing with the lights. Once in a while we could see fish dart through the dark water leaving glowing trails behind them.
One more big reason to like it here.

which may be causing dog allergies.

Party Crasher

This morning we went out to the west side of the island to dive along the cruiseship pier. It was the maiden voyage for my new camera housing, so it went empty today to check for leaks- which means every rare and beautiful thing came and posed in front of us. Afterwards we went up the beach to have a beer and lunch. Lisa caught up with VA...

while I stared out towards Puerto Rico.

Then it was up into the rainforest to find my way to the site of tonight's bachelor party.

I've been invited by the host to help do some damage to the Associate Guest of Honor.

This is definitely a spot for potential visitors to consider.

And if anyone was worried, Lisa is doing a fine job of blending in around here.
